Subject: It’s me.I was kind of hoping you’d have to work a little longer today. I guess it is just as well. The kids need you at home. I got to talk to Dean a little bit yesterday. I took it easy on him and asked him not to worry about me. I also tried to explain how close he is to the end of school and that he doesn’t have much time left to correct the problems he’s caused. I told him to get everything done so he can enjoy his summer. I hope he pulls it off.
Anyway, I know how empty you feel crawling into bed every night. I hated that feeling. I’m sorry you have to go through that now. I had almost forgotten about it until you reminded me. I’m usually so exhausted by the time I get into bed that I don’t have time to think about lying there alone. I do dream about you though. So I feel the loneliest when I wake up in the morning.
I’m not sure how this deployment is going to go. I need to figure out when and how I will be able to schedule my gym time. Right now it seems like the morning is going to be the ideal time to do it. Its cooler outside, I can shower and eat afterward and get myself to work on time. The problem is waking up. If I do it in the evenings like I’d prefer then I may or may not be able to fit it in every day. I don’t think I can take that risk. I am going to have to train myself to get up early. Every day. It isn’t going to be easy. The other thing that worries me is that mortars tend to hit more frequently at that time of day. That scares me. It doesn’t mean I can’t run outside though. Tons of other people do it. So…I’m going to start as soon as TSgt Lightfoot is gone. He can leave as early as Tuesday. I still have to drive him in to work in the mornings with me. He I already gone today so I can’t ask him to meet me later. If I work out in the morning I will have to be up by at least 0600 to get back here by 0800. I have a meeting in the mornings every day but Sunday. I’ve got to get myself into a routine. It kind of sucks to shower in the morning though because I feel so nasty by the end of the day. We have a bunch of those bathing towelettes. I guess I can use those.
I have some things I want you to send me. I need my leatherman (it is in my jewelry box I think). I was also hoping you could burn the shows for me on DVDs. I suppose we could mail a USB drive back and forth if you prefer. I want Bones, The Biggest Loser, House, Cougar Town and United States of Tara. If you wait about two weeks and send them all on the drive I can DL them and send the drive back to you. Does that sound okay? I know I need other things too. I just can’t think of them right now. I definitely want one of my coffee mugs and something that smells like you, please. Give me a couple of days to add to the list before you send anything. I was also hoping you could ask your mom to pick some recent pictures of you, the kids and Juno and get them printed for me. She can get them printed at Mom’s. I know she always wants to help or do something and that would be a great help. I want to tape them to the underside of the top bunk so I can look at them while I’m in bed.
Okay, I guess that’s all for now. I am having some trouble getting the wireless internet to work. I probably won’t be able to get it in my room right away. The guy said they are currently hard wiring the housing area I live in but it could be months before they get to my area. For now I’ll have to rely on going to the rec center where the signal is strong. Once I get into my routine I will start heading there on my way home in the evenings. I love you so much!!! I miss you more than you can imagine. Give the kids big kisses and hugs from me and tell them I’m thinking about them ALL of the time. I love you guys.
Observation:
- Sounds like Dean needs his mum.
- Of course, we can’t estimate where she might be - but it’s close enough to the action to worry about running outside because of mortars.
- Notice that the whole email is in second gear for a married couple? It’s definitely monitored.
- TV Shows - a valuable commodity in the armed forces.
- And, I guess, so is a wired internet connection.

I want American Idol also on the USB stick. One other thing…let me know if there are any shows you want me to buy out here. They have a Looney Tunes set and a Tom and Jerry set that I thought Merrick might like. They have a lot of show sets too. Let me know if there is anything you or your parents want. I love you!!
